Tent canopy for Chloe

This was incredibly easy and ridiculously affordable.

Materials;

1- 5/8th inch dowel 36 inches long

2- sheer curtain panels , This is where you can improvise using material, sheets etc.

(I found my sheer curtain panels at a thrift store for 1.99 each)

1- spool of ribbon

2- screws with circles on the end, aka Screw eyes

Sewing machine.

Step 1- paint your dowel white.

Step 2- Sew your two pieces of fabric together at the top. I just followed the lines that were already there. You are going to do this twice. Your second stitch needs to be about an 1 and 1/2 inches bellow your first stitch.

step 3- Push your dowel through your two seems, like you would when putting a curtain on a rod.

Step 4- Place your two hooks in the ceiling over your child's bed where you want it to hang. Place them about 2-3 ft apart.

step 5- Cut two pieces of ribbon the same length. Tie a bow at the bottom of each ribbon and hang one end off the ceiling hook and the other holding the bar with the curtain on it.

DIY wall clock

Materials

1- wood round from Lowes 7.98$

acrylic craft paint

Clock motor and hands 12.00$ depending on where you get it. check out klokit.com

Vinyl numbers or you can try your hand with stencil or panting

one black marker

Large piece of newspaper

piece of string or wood or foam and 1 nail

Step 1- sand and paint your wood round the way you want your clock to look.

I went for the sun aged look and did varying shades of beige and yellow-browns

Step 2- Trace your painted round on newspaper and cut out the circle. Then fold it in half and then in half again. (don't ask me why this works but it beats the heck out of measuring and measuring and never finding the exact center)

Step 3- line up the 1/4 newspaper with the edge and make a dot on the center. (I did this on the back side of my round first), then pound a nail through the center. Leave some of the nail sticking out.

Step 4- (this next part is tricky but crucial, and you may have to be resourceful) Take a piece of wood or foam or anything straight that you can attach a marker to. I had foam left over from my wall art project. You want the piece to extend from the center nail to the edge of the board.

Step 5- Attach your black marker. This is why I liked the foam I just pushed the marker through the foam at one end and on top the nail at the other end. If using wood you will need to re-nail your center nail through your straight piece of wood and into your center hole Then make a small divot on the other end where you want your marker to be kept in place.

step 6- I did this step on the unfinished side for practice first. I pushed the foam arm allowing the marker to make a perimeter , creating a perfect circle. This is where I worked out if it was placed correctly and was indeed making a circle centered on the wood round. Once I got it perfect I flipped over the board and repeated the circle making.

Step 7- I made a few circles until it looked like what I wanted and then attached my numbers and stencil.

Step 8- Lastly I drilled a hole the size of my clock motor and attached the motor and hands.

Origami barn stars

So I have been looking for a certain barn star to decorate my fireplace with, and have had terrible luck. In doing so I have discovered you can fold them. It will not replace the barn star I'm looking for but it is a good idea for decor elsewhere in the house. I don't have the link to the video I watched to learn how to fold it. I will find it and post it soon though. I made them out of scrapbook paper. It was so super easy.

I have been so busy with birthdays I haven't had time to take pictures of all the earrings I've been making . I have also decided to start posting the other crafts I've been doing.
